As rumours surround the COVID 19 pandemic continue to confuse people, LIFEST has launched a 20-million-kwacha awareness campaign at Nathenje Health Centre aimed at sensitizing people on the correct information about the disease and its vaccine.
The organization intends to make donations to five health centres in Lilongwe rural. Nathenje, Chileka, Lumbadzi, Chitedze and Chezi health centers are earmarked to benefit from the donation.
Executive Director for the organization, Gowa Magowa said they have chosen to increase awareness in rural areas considering that access to COVID-19 prevention materials is limited. Magowa said they will also use the donations to disseminate correct information about the COVID-19 vaccine so that a considerable number of the population is vaccinated.
Marry Lujere, Health Centre in Charge at Nathenje, said the donation has come at the right time when the hospital was in short supply of hand washing facilities. Lujere said the coveralls will go a long way in protecting health workers while assisting COVID patients.
Village head Mdeza, of where the hospital is located said people who access the hospital will minimize the risk of transmitting and contracting the virus through the hand washing facilities that have been donated to the facility.
LiFest is a local Non-Governmental Organization focusing on improving lives of Malawians by creating awareness on importance of mental well-being and the effects of Gender Based Violence.
