#St_John_Of_God, #Lifest & #Janta today delivered one Powerful Message to the People of Lilongwe "There is Professional Life Saving Support Available for you in case you are overwhelmed by Stress, Distress or You Feel imminent signs of Depression...
St. John of God Stress Management Clinic is there for you at Area 43" or Go to the Nearest Health Center or Hospital for Psychosocial Support... Government funded Referral Services to St. John of God Hospitaller Services are available for you..."
The Organizations shared this message today during a Road Show Commemoration of World Mental Health Day at Kauma, Area 23 Chiuzila, Waka-waka and Chinsapo...
Having taken questions & interacted with local people who patronized the Roadshow in all Areas, One interesting emerging issue that Both St. John of God Mental Health Professionals & Lifest Team shared with me was that A lot of People had no idea where they could seek help in case of depression.
In response, the Mental Health Experts Guided them to Health Facilities near them plus St. John of God, explaining the Dangers & Results of living with Depression which include Unproductivity in one's own life, family or at work, mental illness & particularly suicide which is currently on the rise in Malawi.
One of the local people who seemed so interested in the Roadshow at Chiuzila in Area 23 told me, One of the major the reasons People don't open up to others for help when depressed is that, they usually get laughed at and feel embarrassed in the community whenever they speak out to someone they think is a friend. In the next minute, their story, for example about one's unfaithful partner or inability to pay back debt is all over the area...He therefore urged people to give a human face, heart and ear to problems their friends are sharing with them. Focus has to be on how to help, not to embarrass...
The 2021 World Mental Health Day Theme is "Mental Health in An Unequal World"💚🇲🇼
